About
Our Afternoon Tea menus are award-winning and our kitchens are extremely proud of the homemade sandwiches, cakes, and scones they serve. Seeing them piled high on bone china plates with accompanying pots of strawberry jam and thick clotted cream, it’s easy to see how they won over the most critical judge’s eye.
The period lounges are the perfect place to enjoy our Afternoon Tea, or if the weather is nice and warm, the terrace overlooking the lawns and lake makes a sunny alternative. Or we’ll carefully pack your high tea into a picnic hamper for you to enjoy wherever you like.
Hunny Pot Afternoon Tea - Celebrating 100 Years of the Hundred Aker Wood
Step into the 'Hundred Aker Wood' and discover our Hunny Pot Afternoon Tea, a whimsical celebration marking 100 years since the first publication of Winnie-the-Pooh story books by local author A.A. Milne. Set in the heart of the Ashdown Forest - the real-life inspiration for the 'Hundred Aker Wood' - we felt there could be no more fitting way to honour this much-loved literary milestone.
For this special year, our Afternoon Tea menu takes inspiration from Pooh Bear’s favourite indulgence: 'hunny'. Expect delicate, honey-laced treats, paired with timeless afternoon tea classics. Nostalgic, charming and just a little bit playful, the Hunny Pot Afternoon Tea invites guests of all ages to slow down, savour the moment, and enjoy a taste of childhood magic in an unforgettable setting.
Available from Sunday 18th January to Monday 30th November 2026. This special menu will replace our Traditional Afternoon Tea for this period.
Afternoon Tea is served in the relaxed and elegant surroundings of our Lounges between 1.00pm - 5.00pm. Available daily to both hotel resident and non-resident guests. Please note that each table booking is for 2 hours only.
Ashdown Park is a beautiful country house hotel set in the heart of the Ashdown Forest in East Sussex. Set in 186 acres of landscaped Sussex countryside, it is surrounded by immaculate lawns, secret gardens, lakes and woodland trails.
The Park enjoys a colourful and eventful past. A listed 19th century mansion house, it has been variously a hospital and convalescent home for First World War soldiers, a training house for nuns and an international university. Today, it's one of England's favourite country house hotels.
Afternoon Tea is served in The Drawing Rooms with roaring log fires in winter and a terrace for alfresco eating during the warmer months. Or, why not try something new? Our Savoury Afternoon Tea is now available for those with less of a sweet tooth.
