Review: Afternoon Tea at La Terrazza Hotel Xenia

Summer Garden Afternoon Tea at Hotel Xenia | Afternoon Tea London

We visited the Hotel Xenia London to get our first Afternoon Tea experience hosted and catered by La Terrazza Restaurant situated in South Kensington. Traditionally Afternoon Tea comprises of an Afternoon Tea stand to bridge the gap between lunch and dinner, and it comes with multiple tiers. With my first time experiencing, I was excited to see how good afternoon tea tastes with an Italian twist.

The Afternoon Tea was served in the hotel’s stunning and beautifully designed interior to give an attractive greenhouse vibe. Each part of the restaurant was created to give a particular ambiance, using appropriate greenery accents to provide interest and a sense of calm. From the ceiling canopy to the outdoor sitting, each space was giving the elegant dining vibe.

We started with the glass of Prosecco and the choice of tea followed up by the stand having three tiers, in which bottom & middle of the stand consist of savory sandwich traditionally finger sandwiches which included five different types of sandwiches made from focaccia bread with grilled mushrooms, brown and white bread generously made with avocado, basil pesto, walnuts, cucumber and filled with gorgonzola, mascarpone and cream cheeses. With light and fresh in taste, there’s was something like nostalgic about it, like this was something my mom would make me like going off to school. Totally liked that experience because that made me feel a little posh.

And moving up to the top tier, it had a miniature version of delicate patisserie including tiramisu, berry tarts, white chocolate mousse sphere and some handmade Halloween cookies to celebrate Halloween month. Each had a unique flavor which was not just straight up chocolate but beyond and so pleasing on the eye.

And of course, favorite part from the Afternoon Tea homemade scones served with clotted cream, strawberry jam, and Nutella. Though they look like dry but when in your mouth with the clotted cream and the jam, it totally solidifies the whole thing giving the perfect combination of flavors.

Everything specially the savory part was done very well keeping in mind our vegetarian request. Alongside honestly the service was phenomenal and very quick, adding a different element to afternoon tea and it felt like a proper experience.

Could not recommended it enough for the very decently prices at £36pp with the glass of Prosecco and the amount of food you get.

Afternoon Tea at La Terrazza Hotel Xenia with a glass of Prosecco and a choice of unlimited tea is £36 per person, or £46 per person, with a glass of Champagne. Click here for more details and to book.
