King Street Townhouse Launch Their New Menu at Their Afternoon Bloom On The Terrace Event

by The AfternoonTea.co.uk Team

King Street Townhouse invited us to take part in their pre Afternoon Tea Week “Afternoon Bloom On The Terrace” event, where they revealed their new menu in collaboration with Laurent Perrier.

King Street Townhouse offer two menus, both Traditional and Savoury, but this time we had the pleasure of trying their Traditional Afternoon Tea. To note, we had the opportunity to sample the Pork & caramelised onion sausage roll with blue cheese sauce, and the Mini Yorkshire pudding & braised beef short rib, both of which were absolutely delicious, excellently made, and very well designed.

Naturally, we started with the Sandwiches, which strike a great balance between tradition and creativity. The honey roast ham on tomato bread stands out for its freshness, with the mustard a subtle “bite”. Smoked salmon is paired with citrus cream cheese and cucumber, offering a lighter option that feels well-suited to afternoon tea. The cheddar cheese and tomato & chilli relish sandwich is a simple crowd-pleaser, while the egg mayonnaise with cress remains a familiar favourite, presented on cereal bread for extra texture. The chicken Caesar wrap is a modern touch, adding something a bit more filling to the mix. Each sandwich is cut neatly and feels carefully made, with the right balance of filling to bread.

There’s clear attention to variety and seasonality in the cakes. The lemon and blueberry macaron is delicate, adding a nice pop of colour and a light finish. The raspberry, peach & rosemary cake sounds a bit more unusual, but it is delicious, with the rosemary lifting the sweetness and providing something a little different. The caramel mocha tart was a favourite, with a rich taste, crisp pastry, and smooth filling. The strawberry & honey gateau is soft and well layered, with the honey adding a gentle floral note, in a delicious, light cake.

King Street Town House clearly pay more than enough attention to their Tea, with a delicious, comprehensive menu supplied by Newby. Alongside English Breakfast and Earl Grey, you’ll find options like Jasmine Bud and Chocolate Tea, as well as green teas. The staff offer good recommendations if you’re undecided. As always, the pot is left on the table and topped up when needed, making it easy to linger and enjoy your time.

The scones have a light, crumbly texture that holds up well to the spreads. The use of apricot is a nice twist, giving a hint of fruitiness without making the scone overly sweet. Jam and clotted cream come in small dishes, allowing you to portion as you like.

Laurent-Perrier have teamed up with King Street Townhouse to supply the Afternoon Tea Champagne. Delicious as always, It arrives well-chilled, perfect for any indulgent occasion.

Afternoon Tea is typically served in their Afternoon Tea Lounge, providing diners with a stylish, refined, and subtly sophisticated environment to enjoy King Street Townhouse’s delicious offerings. The lounge is carefully decorated with designer fabrics, gentle atmospheric lighting, and locally commissioned, locally inspired art.
