The Chesterfield Mayfair offers traditional afternoon tea in luxurious surroundings and is proud to have received a special 'Award of Excellence' from the UK Tea Council in recognition of outstanding quality and consistently high standards of tea service for the last three years.
With inspiration taken from the honeybees who live in hives on the roof of the hotel, afternoon tea is offered with a twist as Afternoon Bee celebrates the English summer filled with the scent of a flowering garden and the distant sound of buzzing busy bees.
To start, guests are offered refreshing iced mint tea which has been designed to clear the palate and embark on the bee themed journey through a summer garden. A selection of delicate finger sandwiches are accompanied by a feast of creative sweet treats including freshly baked scones served with home made jams, honey and clotted cream. Afternoon Bee treats includes:
- Flower pot of chocolate mousse and chocolate almond soil
- Carrot cupcake topped with ginger and honey cream and dusted with pollen
- Rosemary and honey macaroons with chocolate ganache
- Elderflower and vanilla cheesecake
- Strawberry tart
A selection of 16 loose leaf teas accompanies the Afternoon Bee. Favourites include organic rosebud tea which is caffeine-free with the tightly packed rosebuds gradually release their fragrance to create a smooth calming taste. Another highlight is Elderflower and Lemon Verbena which combines white honey-scented flowers with the light citrus notes of lemon verbena.
Young children are invited to enjoy the Busy Bees and Butterflies Tea at £12.50 with peanut butter and jam sandwiches served along with the sweet treats listed above. Guests wishing to celebrate can ask to be treated as Queen Bees with a glass of Champagne included for £41.50.
Afternoon Tea is served in either the Conservatory, which is flooded with natural daylight, set against the backdrop of the garden and fountain, or The Butlers Restaurant which is warm and intimate and provides a quintessential British dining experience.
