Britain is still blessed with an abundance of first class hotels and restaurants where anyone can experience the elegance and grandeur of a bygone age. For some people the thought of entering these grand hotels can be intimidating, but they are generally very friendly places (honestly), after all your business is important to them. This site gives you all the information you need to feel confident about your visit, because you will know exactly what to expect.

Specific information for each hotel includes the following:

Tea Time

This differs from place to place but is generally between 3 and 5 o'clock. The listing for each hotel shows the exact times.

Booking

You are advised to always book in advance using our online booking service. Some hotels, especially in London, can be fully booked up weeks or even months in advance, particularly at weekends.

Prices

Prices vary considerably around the country, with London being the most expensive region. Some hotels will also add an ‘optional' service charge to your bill of around 12%. Details are included in each listing if known.

Dress Code

Most hotels do not require men to wear jacket and tie for Afternoon Tea and operate a ‘smart casual' policy. However, some do still require formal dress.

Children

Well-behaved children are welcome at most hotels but some have a minimum age limit.

Dogs Some hotels allow dogs to accompany their owners in areas where Afternoon Tea is served - some positively encourage it, such as the Devonshire Arms in North Yorkshire, which is currently AA Pet Friendly Hotel of the Year.

Guide dogs are welcome at all hotels.

This site is arranged by region and although London hotels feature heavily, there are also many country hotels that offer tremendous value for money and have beautiful gardens and extensive grounds, which you are free to enjoy during your visit.
