Afternoon Tea Awards 2024 - Award of Excellence

Avaliable 6th May - 31st August 2024

In homage to Queen Elizabeth’s majestic flair and with Royal Ascot just around the corner, Brown’s has pulled it out of the hat and created an Afternoon Tea extravaganza bursting with hat-themed delights that we have no doubt her late Majesty herself would have enjoyed.

Inspired by royal tea parties and elegant gatherings where ladies donned their finest attire, each of the Couture hats are a work of art in themselves and have been meticulously designed by Awon Golding, Head Millinery Designer, on the top floor of the St James’s Street shop. In turn, guests are invited to dress for the occasion and savour sweet and savoury treats in Brown’s oak-panelled Drawing Room, which will be filled to the brim with the pastel and floral hat  pieces, such as the Rose Bud Leather Percher Hat and the Lady Grey Black Wide Brim Hat. The limited-edition Afternoon Tea menu will feature tea-infused and delicate hat-shaped cakes, chouxbuns, and scones served, silver service style, from one of Lock & Co’s iconic hat boxes. With all of the hats named after different types of tea, guests are sure to delight in choosing from the 26 varieties of tea on the menu.

Brown's Hotel has a fascinating history and has hosted many distinguished guests since it opened as London's first ever hotel in 1832. It is from here that Rudyard Kipling penned many of his novels and it is believed that this elegant setting was the inspiration for Agatha Christie's 'At Bertram's Hotel'. To this day this glamorous, five-star establishment welcomes guests 'in-the-know'.

The Drawing Room serves one of the most famous Afternoon Teas in London and was awarded a Commended certificate at the Afternoon Tea Awards 2019 in recognition of their quality. The sophisticated and stylish interior is a clever mix of both tradition - thanks to the original wood paneling, fire places and Jacobean detailed plaster ceiling and contemporary style, with Paul Smith lighting, fashionable fabrics and original artworks.

Relax to the sounds from the Baby Grand Piano and indulge in a choice of 17 teas, including Brown's own blend, along with a selection of succulent finger sandwiches, an assortment of delicate pastries, fruit and plain scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserve, as well as a choice of freshly baked cakes from the trolley. Guests of The Drawing Room never leave hungry, as the finger sandwiches are continuously replenished at no additional charge.

No matter what a guest's dietary requirements may be, from gluten free to nut allergies, the team of chefs at Brown's Hotel will ensure that everyone has the chance to enjoy their award-winning Afternoon Tea. 48 hours advanced notice is required to prepare these special teas.

Your table will be available for 1 hour 45 minutes. A cancellation made with less than 48 hours notice, incurs a cancellation fee of £30 per guest.
